Year 5
Mrs Clegg teaches in year 5 alongside Mrs Entwistle and Mr Hyde on a Monday.
Year 5 is full of exciting adventures; we kick off the year in style with our October residential in York. Ghost walks, Vikings and having fun are top of the agenda! Our York residential trip sets the tone for the year; Year 5 is all about living up to high expectations and challenging ourselves!

In History, we study the Maya, Vikings and WW1. We visit the Milnthorpe War memorial and research the soldiers listed there. Pupils gain an understanding of the way war impacted on the area they live and ordinary families, just like theirs.
In Year 5, pupils are given the opportunity to regularly participate in a Dementia awareness cafe. They run the afternoons, making the tea, serving the drinks and dancing with our elderly guests. Pupils learn valuable lessons about serving their community and are given the responsibility and opportunity they need to gain vital communication and life skills.
Although initially nervous about going, Community come Dancing is often the highlight of the year!

Many pupils continue to learn flute or guitar in Year 5 and we have great fun joining together with Year 6 to put on the a production in Summer term.
